We have just returned from our second visit this year and it won\'t be the last. What a great site this is, the staff are all brilliant and the food in the pub is excellent and very reasonably priced. On our first visit we never left the site, this time we decided to go to Hunstanton for the day which was less than an hour away. This is a perfect site for chilling and relaxing and we would thoroughly recommend it.

Rose and Crown5.0 out of 5 based on 1 ratings. 1 user reviews. Shields 26th April 2011 We have just stayed on the Rose and Crown caravan site for the Easter Bank Holiday. We had an excellent time, the owners are so helpful and friendly, the food is great and the pitches are very spacious. I would definately stay there again and recommend it to all my friends.

What a wonderful place, made even better by the entertaining antics of 'gentleman' Baz and 'pool loving' Kelvin. The family make you so welcome and greet you as 'long lost friends'. Darren (Daz), is a great cook, and nothing is too much trouble. The pub and restaurant are clean and decor is really nice. They certainly aim to please. The food ( we have been there several times), is really good, both in value for money and presentation. Although we have never stayed on the campsite, it is well looked after and improvements are being made all the time. Well worth the journey, just off the A17, in a lovely little village. What a hidden gem !!!! Thanks for a great time, see you all again soon Carole, David & Grace (Mum).

This was our first 2 night Easter break at the Rose and Crown that turned into 5 nights. The 2CV rally in the field next door was an added extra to an enjoyable weekend.
Great bunch of people, friendly and encouraging to participate even without a 2cv! No noise and all family friendly.
Everyone on site and in the pub really friendly, showers hot, food good and the whole atmosphere is just so relaxing.
Baz and his crew were helpful and welcoming, making sure you had all you needed, checking on your well being everyday. This was a genuine call to see if you were ok, not to check on you.
Will be returning.

Just returned from our first stay with you. WOW. We had a great time and had to stay an extra night for the Karaoke. The people that run the place make it special. Never felt so welcome on any caravan site. Nothing is too much trouble. Each and every one of you have an ovewhelming desire to satisfy your guests. Prices are very reasonable, toilets kept clean ,showers are hot and powerful. A very big thank you, we will see you all again soon.

We Have just had the most wonderful break at the Rose & Crown camp site, we had booked for 3 Nights then decided we wanted to stay another night to try the Karaoke night, we were able to stay even though Baz was pulling his hair out re-arranging bookings so we could stay, bless him, all carried out without a moan and with a smile on his face. Well worth being there on Friday nights, the atmosphere is great. I have never been anywhere so friendly, we felt like family members as soon as we arrived. Showers are more than adequate, lots of hot water and even though they were busy we never had to queue for a shower. The whole place is great, the ambience in this place should be available to bottle and take to some of the less friendly places we have visited!!! We'll be back. Thanks to all concerned for a smashing time.

We loved our camping experience at the Rose and Crown. It was totally relaxing and everyone is so friendly and welcoming. The food was wonderful, with fab service and the beer always tasted spot on. We love a game of pool so were well pleased they had a pool table as well as great entertainment. The shower and toilet block was very clean and the actual showers were really powerful and always hot. Everyone was really helpful when we had problems with our tent and nothing is ever too much. We will definitely be returning.

Visited Easter weekend for our very first time, which will not be our last. What a fantastic welcome we got from the inimitable Baz (who had his birthday all weekend 66 clickety click).
Booked only one night, but turned up early due to phone friendliness, and stayed 2 nights.
Site facilities basic, but spot on. Pub is the hub of the site - great meals, great welcome, and great time was had by all.
A very good family orientated site. We will be back.

We found this pub online when looking for a convenient rendezvous for lunch between Watton and Sleaford
We struck lucky, with a warm welcome, including an open fire and excellent food at very reasonable prices. The Aberdeen Angus cottage pie was really tasty and the desserts were delicious and a bit different. Good beer and a nice bottle of wine. Recommended and we will come again if we are in the area.

Hi ya Kelvin and Janet After having such a fab time staying with you over the New Year Period my friends and I (aka The Caravan Crew) would like to know if it\'s possible to book again this New Year (preferably in the car park with hard standing. This was discussed with Kelvin and Darren), I think the electric was just a slight problem that could be resolved if necessary. We would if possible like 6 possibly 7 pitches. I look forward to your reply. Andrea Benson

This was our first visit to the campsite and it did take us a while to find it as it is a little tucked away from the main road and situated at the other end of a quiet village. The pub itself is painted a lovely bright yellow so it’s easy to see. We were greeted by Baz who made us very welcome and showed us where to pitch and offered his assistance if we needed it, the site itself is pretty flat and lots of electric hook ups.The showers were as clean as they could be but the weather was a little grim at times so a bit of mud on the floors is to be expected. They are cleaned every morning. The washing up facilities is outside at the moment and lacks a canopy or some other idea if its raining but there is plenty of hot water.
The pub is a proper local type pub with real ale and guest ales. The food is awesome and 99% of it is homemade by the tall guy (Daz). I would definitely recommend this site, the staff cannot do enough for you and nothing is too much trouble.
There are no rules on this site, the only thing they ask is to respect other campers which is enough really. We would definitely go again and the prices are very reasonable (£26.00) 3 nights with a hook up.It’s a pretty new site and they are improving it all thhe time

We stayed at the Rose and Crown for one night mid week which was only £7 - In August we really thought this was great value!
We arrived at the camp site and were greeted by friendly faces who showed us the options for where we could pitch. There was a toilet block quite close to our tent which I found to be clean, the showers had hot water in the morning and always had toilet paper.
After putting up the tent we went out to see some sights. In reflection we should have planned what we wanted to see and do before we got there as we really struggled to find anything close by to see that interested us. We ended up in Kings Lynn, where we had a nice walk around.
In the evening we went to the camp sites own pub. The staff were so lovely and the locals all very friendly and chatty. They have a great selection of beers and ciders all reasonable prices.
Unfortunately the weather spoiled the trip a bit and really restricted what we could do. If we were to go up that way again we would stay at the same site and after speaking to the staff we have a better idea of what to see and do nearby.

Well what can i say we not only found the Rose & Crown but also the jewel in the crown as this Campsite is better than any caravan club site, on our arrival we were met by kelvin who made us so welcome he then introduced us to baz, what a man, he made you feel like a long lost friend, who showed us our pitch, he his ace.
We arrived on a saturday and on sunday we decided to have a sunday lunch daren to us is definatly a master chef on his own the meal was that good that our grandaughter cleaned her plate which i have never in her 9 yrs of age seen before.
This site is that good that we have left our caravan there as we are going back on the 25th september baz , daren and kelvin could not do enough for us if there was a star rateing it would be 5 plus, plus, plus ect , I can only say that this is the start of a long friendship and hope they will be at the Rose & Crown for a very long time see you all soon. What a fab site, we were greeted by very helpful staff and directed to our pitch without delay. Toilet and shower facilities were basic but very clean and adequate for our needs. The children's play area was very good, there was also a games room with a tv, my little girl was very happy she could catch up on ceebeebies.
The site itself was kept in superb condition, our stay was most enjoyable and would definitely return. There is lots to do in the surrounding areas and supermarkets and shops are a short car journey away.

What can we say, found this lovely little site by looking at reviews and thought we would give it a try, and we are so pleased we did. The staff were so friendly we felt we had known them for years.
The food in the rose n crown was lovely and not at all expensive. Ok the toilet block was spotless and it made a change to have lashings of hot water.
Oh and @£7 a night to pitch you just cant go wrong, electric hook up was just £2 extra but seeing we were there the one night we didn't bother ( didn't have anything electric to hook up to be honest ).
We had brilliant neighbours and had a lovely time sat chatting and getting a wee bit merry. Just brilliant not much more to say

What a great find.
Lovely, flat pitches next to the strikingly painted pub. Kelvin and Baz went out of their way to make not just us but everyone feel really welcome and also included in the pub's activities. We aren't usually fans of Karaoke evenings, but the fun and spirit that everyone entered into it including all the staff was amazing despite Kelvin's 'unique' singing style. Who is that Alice person anyway?
Not just the friendly spirit, but also great, very reasonably priced simple hearty pub grub as produced by the now famous (infamous?) unnecessarily tall Daz. If you want to see the menu, you see exactly that - the one and only copy of it. Kelvin is also very fussy about the condition of his ale and won't serve you with it if he is not 100% satisfied with it - which, as real ale fans is a distinct plus in our books.
There are several things to go and see near the campsite - but we wound up having so much fun on site, we hardly left the place. With the camping at £7 a night and a decent meal for the same kind of money, we were severely tempted to just not go home.
Highly recommended to anyone who wants to have a whale of a time in great company for incredibly good value prices.

Just got back from a long weekend 3 nights stay at the Rose & Crown, what a gem of a camp-site, friendly does not do it justice, from the moment at checking in by Baz(what a legend) being shown to pitch by Darren (and he is as tall as they say) The bar staff are second to none, the food is first class, home cooked (the chips are excellent.) Food prices are reasonable and at £9.00 per night including Electric hook up make the site a great place to camp.
The site is a bit of a way out the nearest shop is about 3 miles but even that doesn't distract for what a great site this.
We are going back in a few weeks with family and friends and can't wait.

Reviewer: Gasman166 (1) Date of Visit: September 2009 Unit: Tent We arrived about 1.30 on Sunday afternoon and decided to eat in the pub eatery before putting up the tent. The food is excellent, (cooked beautifully by Darren the tall), and very reasonably priced. There was a christening on when we arrived but we were sorted with a lovely Sunday lunch very quickly. The site itself is basic but so is the price, just £7 a night with an extra £2 for electric hook up. The toilet / shower block is small and a bit dilapidated but very clean and there is loads of hot water, my only complaint is that it could use a couple of hooks by the sinks to hang towels on whilst washing. The area where we put the tent up is a bit open to the elements so was very windy, however there has been a number of shrubs planted which will provide shelter when they grow a bit. There is not a lot in the immediate area but there are a lot of attractions in fairly close proximity and we were treated to a DC3 and a Spitfire flyby presumably because the Battle of Britain Museum is close by. Now, the down side, unless you are slightly insane don`t use the pub. We went in on our first evening on site to pay the site fees and ended up getting a little tipsy thanks to Barry the barmy barman. Seriously though, although we knew nobody in the pub, which was quite crowded, we were laughing and joking with everybody very quickly. This place is very definitely run by a bunch of 'characters'. Improvements are in the pipeline for next season and we will be back for sure.

Beckymosaic (1) Date of Visit: April 2010 Unit: Trailer Tent I had organised an Easter Camp for my fellow 2CVers, and picked the Rose and Crown mainly for the fact it was a local campsite with pub attached. We were not fully prepared for the wonderful time we had; Kelvin, Janet, Darren and Baz were wonderful hosts - nothing was to much for them. They were happy to accommodate over 50 of us, and serve up to 15 at a time for a 'full English' breakfast - bargain of the year for a fiver - beautifully cooked and so tasty. The Elgoods beers were superb, all the food yummy (particular praise for the treacle pud), and the hosts great company. OK, the site loo/shower block was basic, but it's a campsite, not Butlins! The water was always hot, and the loos clean, with a useful outside washing up area. The plentiful hook-ups and chemical loo emptying point an unexpected, but useful feature on a pub camp site. The karaoke was not to be missed, but not always because the singing was good! We hope to be back 'en masse' again soon
